Housing at Kent Uni
Living on campus puts you right at the heart of student life. At the University of Kent, this gives you access to a huge choice of facilities including cafes, traditional dining halls (think student canteen, home-cooked food), bistros, restaurants and self service food outlets; bars and a nightclub for drinks, plus shops, a cinema, theatre and gym.
New full-time first year undergraduate students (who selected the University of Kent as their first choice) are offered on campus accommodation. This is very much on a first-come first-served basis: Those who apply first (and meet the criteria) are the first to hear if they are successful. Both undergraduates and postgraduates need to apply before 31 July to secure an offer of a room in halls as places are highly sought-after – find out more in Live on campus.
All other students at the University of Kent live off campus, mostly in Canterbury. Some venture out to Whitstable and Herne Bay, but the majority find shared houses in key student areas like Hales Place, St Michaels Place, Salisbury Road, St Stephens, St Dunstans, Wincheap and Thanington (to name a few) in the city. Shared housing might not be the most luxurious of digs (and doesn’t come with a cleaner like halls), but if you choose your room mates carefully, it can become the best thing about being at uni.
