Societies and Sports Clubs
Kent's one of the most diverse unions in the country. Where better to get a taste for it than through the vast array of clubs and socs? Whether you already have your heart set, or simply want to try something new, you really would be a fool not to join in. So what're you waiting for? Get stuck in and experience your life to the full.
Abacus Society
Are you British? Are you Chinese? Neither? If you're any of above, then ABACUS is for you! Read on... ABACUS, the Association of British and Chinese University Student; it was founded in 1994 at Cambridge University by a group of mainly British-born Chinese who felt that there was a need to promote an awareness of the Chinese Community in Britain, and now this idea has been spread into other Universities in UK, for example: Cambridge Uni, Oxford Uni, UCL, Queen Mary, etc... We aim to create a group where people can meet, socialise and make friends in an informal and friendly setting.
Adventure Gaming Society
Gaming in Canterbury, amazing as it might sound, is probably done mostly by either members of the AGS, or ex-members that have kept their gaming ways after leaving the University. Considering the AGS is one of the longest running societies at UKC, that's an awful lot of gaming experience... so why not get involved and become part of this unique society.
Afro Cab Society
Aiming to unite people of African and Caribbean backgrounds (and those who are interested), by providing events and socials flavoured with the diversity of our culture. Some of the events we have lined up for this year include movie nights, ACS Awards Night, a rave per term and many more. Membership is £3 for the whole year and will get you discounts at all our events. What's more you'll be able to stay in contact with the society and what we're doing much more easily.
Alternative Buddhist Society
Showing the teachings of Buddha in an authentic way, which can be applied to life in the West. It meets weekly for meditation and group discussion and holds public talks with guest speakers.
